Westcoast Kitchen Garden
Earlier in the year, this area functioned as a compacted paddock at the edge of an eroding hillside, offering little structure for long-term planting.
The garden was reshaped through terracing and soil rebuilding, creating a series of protected growing areas anchored by drought-tolerant, Mediterranean-inspired edibles. Fruit, nut, and berry plantings frame the space, while the central kitchen garden supports daily harvesting and hands-on use.
Designed to establish gradually, the garden will become increasingly productive as soil health improves and perennial plantings settle in. Rather than relying on constant inputs, the system is intended to grow stronger over time, offering reliable harvests while remaining well adapted to its West Coast conditions.
This kitchen garden forms an integral part of a larger, regenerative landscape, demonstrating how practical food production can be woven into broader ecological systems with care and patience.
