Backyard Edible Raingarden
The clients goal here was to have a landscape makeover. To have a beautiful landscape to entertain, relax, and grow food, all while increasing property value. As a major feature we harvest rainwater from the roof and run it through a seasonal rain garden, providing functionality and beauty, while hydrating the surrounding ecology. The edible trees, shrubs, and other perennials and herbaceous plants will fill out the area with food and beauty as the years pass, soaking up the abundant west coast rains. Figs, apples, chilean guava, huckleberry, kiwi, autumn olive and more will continue to flourish here, supplemented by subsurface drip irrigation. We plan to complete the second phase of the project in the coming seasons.
