Ferro-cement Curvy Beds

In this backyard, the goal was to increase food production without resorting to standard raised bed forms that felt temporary or out of place.

Rather than boxes or straight lines, the garden was shaped around curving raised beds built from ferro-cement, chosen for their durability, longevity, and sculptural quality. Pigmented with natural iron oxide and detailed with river rock drainage, the beds bring both strength and softness to the space.

Surrounded by edible and ornamental perennials, the garden feels settled and distinctive rather than constructed. Designed as a long-term solution for a home meant to be lived in for years to come, these beds offer a practical and expressive alternative to conventional raised beds, supporting food production while contributing to the character and rhythm of the landscape.
