FOOD FOREST TASTING TOUR w/ NATURE’S CHEF - 10 YEAR CELEBRATION

We are so excited to host this event! To celebrate our 10 year anniversary earlier this year, we are hosting a Food Forest Tour & Tasting at UpRooted Farm!

If you’re interested in learning about food forestry, permaculture, and wild harvesting, there is no better way than immersing yourself in a food forest, and enjoying the delicacies it produces.

We helped design and install this food forest with the owners of UpRooted Farm, Simon and Alex, and over the past three years it has blossomed into an extraordinary edible ecosystem.

WHY "FOOD FORESTRY"?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Beyond food, food forestry can provide herbal medicine, native plant and insect habitat, food for pollinators, erosion control, drought resistance, build soil health, natural pest control, and offers the resilience of a forest ecosystem, with the beauty of an ornamental landscape.

  • Edible perennials are low-maintenance, hardy, and resilient even in an unpredictable climate

  • Edible perennials are planted once, and can be harvested for many, many years to come

  • Food forestry has been called “Gardening for 1000 Years” for this reason.

  • Everyone loves visiting the forest - now you can invite the forest to your home, and let it feed you for the rest of your life!

WANT TO KNOW US BETTER?

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

---------------------------------------------------------------------

We will begin by welcoming you to UpRooted Farm, and introduce you to Simon & Alex (the owners & stewards), and giving an overview of this beautiful land. We’ll discuss some of the challenges and opportunities they faced, and how we worked with them through design and installation, highlighting key systems, elements, and features.

Next, a guided forest walk, where we will observe and discuss forest ecology, and how we can apply the patterns and principles that allow forests to thrive, in our own edible landscapes.

Following the forest walking tour, we will return to the food forest, for an interactive tour where you will get up-close and personal with one of the most thriving food forest farms we’ve ever come across.

Next, we will be treated to a taste of the food forest, and Tom Kral Nature’s Chef will serve us some tantalizing treats from the food forest, made with food harvested from the land we’ve be walking on. Guaranteed to be ultra-local, organic, beautiful and delicious!

Finally, there will be a surprise give-away, with all who attend will be entered in a draw. We’re keeping this one nice and intimate, with 20 people max, so your chances of winning are good!

We hope you can join us!
